What each file format means
| Format | Meaning | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| APK | An Android package, either standalone or part of a split set | Whether it is complete and compatible with your device |
| APKM | APKMirror’s bundle format | The distributor’s documented bundle installer |
| XAPK | A distributor archive format, rather than an Android platform installer extension | The source’s contents and installer requirements |
| AAB | Android App Bundle, a publishing format | A store or distributor must generate the installable APKs |
Changing the extension does not rebuild a package or supply missing components. Renaming an APKM, XAPK or AAB to .apk is not a conversion method.
Why a base APK may be insufficient
Android can install several split APKs as one application. A base package provides shared functionality, while other parts can supply device resources, native libraries or features. The platform’s split mechanism is available from Android 5.0 onward.
Extracting only the base file can leave required parts missing. Mixing splits from different releases can also create an incomplete installation. Obtain a complete set through one documented source, or let the store deliver the required files.
Which format is recorded for Picasso?
The APKMirror 10.14.0 page checked on 27 October 2026 labels its download as an APKM bundle. Its 27.29 MB size applies to that artifact. The file has not been installed or independently scanned for this guide.
Compare the full package, version code, Android requirement and available architectures before choosing it. A V-series label on another site does not establish equivalence without matching package and signing evidence.
Choose an installation route
Where available, use the package-linked Play listing. The store handles device selection and delivery. For a manually distributed file, read the source’s own format and installer instructions.
If the bundle needs another application to install it, evaluate that installer’s source and permissions separately. Do not use an unrelated helper from an advertisement just because it appeared beside a download button.
Keep the source address, package, version and hash with your file record. Then use the installation guide or installation-error checks for your next step.
